Abstract:
The paper deals with the evolution of the food sector in Italy as well as with problems related to the internationalisation of the sector itself. The research shows a marked difference between the Centre-North and the South, though in the latter istances of some development have taken place in a number of regional realities. Although the food sector cannot be considered a dynamic one, still it may play an important role in the South. High quality and good managerial organisation are indeed important steps towards an internationalisation of the sector. It could be included in the "Made in Italy" and from this lake advantage for a commercial development. Economic interchange with the Southern coast-line of the Mediterranean can certainly give rise to meaningful elements togheter with phenomena of productive delocalization which can push the sector and the whole area.
