Renewables Energies and Grid Parity in the Italian and European Energy System

Abstract: The paper aims to describe the actual and future prospects of renewable energies markets in Italy and Europe by analyzing data and forecasts about the timing when grid parity will be reached. The paper is organized in six sections. The first, second and third ones describe the main characteristics of European and Italian energy systems and the goals states by the actual EU energy legislation. In the fourth part, renewable energies industries competitiveness trends are analyzed, while in the fifth section the paper offers some forecasts about the grid parity in the photovoltaic sector. Some concluding remarks close the analysis.
