Italian Productivity, Infrastructural Policies and the Role of Industrial Organization

Abstract:
The paper deals with the relevant role of the Economics of Industry/Industrial Organizationand its scientific method in analyzing the difficulties of Italian economic system. Afterhaving reviewed the development of the Economics of Industry and Industrial Organization,the paper focuses on the poor economic performances of the Italian industrial system. Different structural remedies to boost productivity and competitiveness of Italian firms, such as the reduction and the requalification of public spending, are briefly discussed. Lastly, the role of infrastructural policies in growth and industrial dynamic is emphasized.
