Abstract:
The 2015 Svimez Report raised serious concerns about the situation of the «Italian Mezzogiorno ». In fact, the Report provides the worse picture the South of Italy have ever experienced over the last years. The gdp is decreasing, unemployment is raising, and several economic activities disappeared, especially in the manufacturing sector. Given this scenario, the paper analyses the main reasons to explain the economic fall of the «Italian Mezzogiorno», and provides some policy indications to set a new path to growth.
