Abstract:
Travel and tourism industry is a key sector for Italian and global growth. Rome is one of the main Italian Local Tourist Systems, that produces more than 5.5 billion euros every year and attracts the 11% of domestic tourist arrivals. Within a destination management approach, this paper offers a quantitative analysis of the Roman tourism flow, in order to identify peculiarities and problems. This paper briefly highlights the basic lines of a new urban, sustainable and quality tourism strategy, which requires a virtuous coo-petition, involving all key actors and stakeholders, and public policies for Rome's infrastructure and services.
