Abstract:
According to many, the discriminating factor between the success and decline of the sectors is the ability of companies to innovate. As a result, the most innovative sectors, with the high technology sectors at the forefront, are the most successful. These sectors often have positive repercussions on the economy, influencing the capacity to produce added value and employment in other sectors. Given the role they play, it is essential to correctly identify innovative industries. However, such an exercise is not easy: it is not sufficient to refer to these sectors and too often the Ateco classification does not allow to grasp the most distinctive aspects of these industries, that is emerging specializations and required skills. The present work intends to provide a bottom-up approach to the innovative sectors in the provinces of Chieti and Pescara, using semantic algorithms to extract information on the specializations and competencies present on the territory, starting from the corporate missions and the websites of the observed companies and not limiting to the Ateco sectors declared by companies.
