L'effetto del sindacato sulla mobilità delle retribuzioni: un'analisi empirica

Abstract:
Wage mobility depends on a series of characteristics (individual and not) empirically investigated in recent contributions. However, in a labour market characterized by a direct involvement of workers' organisations in wage bargaining, it is important to analyse also the trade unions' impact on wage mobility. This is particularly relevant in the Italian labour market where trade unions aimed, for a period, at a certain wage egalitarism. Merging two data sets, one on individual Italian wages in the manufacturing sector provided by INPS (Istituto Nazionale di Previdenza Sociale) and the other providing indices of trade unions' bargaining power in the same sector, this paper shows that workers' organisations have an egalitarian impact also in a dynamic context.
