Gender Budgeting in Education from a Wellbeing Approach: An Application to Italy and Spain

Abstract: Wellbeing gender budgets combine the analysis of institutions' budgets from adouble perspective: gender and wellbeing. This paper applies the wellbeing gender budgetapproach to institutions that affect education, which can be considered as a basic capabilitywith positive effects not only on other dimensions of wellbeing but also on gender equality.Two tertiary education institutions provide the focus: the University of Modena and ReggioEmilia, in Modena, Italy; and Pablo de Olavide University, in Seville, Spain. The phases in theanalysis are described together with the main results obtained, which lead to the planning offurther research activities and policy implications.
