The resale price maintenance on books: limiting competition in order to protect culture?

Abstract: Taking the cue from the events of the Law n. 128/2011, limiting the discounts on bookscover price, which was passed by broad consensus and soon implicitly repealed amidthe general indifference, the paper proposes a thorough analysis of the model of interventionto which the law was inspired and of the alternative approaches that maybe found in different European legal systems. The investigation aims, in particular, toassess the merits of the assumptions which form the basis of the defense of the Rpmin the books market.
