Digital transformation, acquisitions and disintermediation. Digital reading in the library and its cognitive biases
Giulio Blasi
Economia della Cultura, 2022, issue 2-3, 247-258
Abstract:
E-lending began in Italy in 2009 and has since achieved a significant success and a widespread diffusion in all types of libraries. The exponential growth of the service (especially after the lockdown) is however accompanied by a series of cognitive biases that prevent its fully effective use by libraries. The three biases on which this article is focused concern the concept of «digital transformation», the differences between different types of libraries, the revolution in acquisition systems brought about by digital purchasing channels.
