Making a synthesis of the many ways of measuring the reading in Europe. A project

Abstract: In the European countries, regular surveys with their results and data collected in the course of the decades, shaped the reading people dimensions and features in every national contest. In this article are considered the different surveys criteria of the reading index adopted in the different countries and, particularly, those about «reading» in the surveys realised in Italy, France, Spain and Norway. What is «reading» in the questions can influence the answers about to be or not to be a reader. To make uniform the criteria Aldus Up, a proposal, and ERICS, a pilot project, are briefly illustrate
