Abstract: The paper outlines the most important phases of the consultation implemented by ICOM (International Council of Museums) about the new definition of museum. Furthermore, presents the initiatives entered by ICOM Italy has promoted several opportunities to make known the most significant steps of the research, offering to museum professionals a variety of meetings to update, promote and consolidate best practices
