Abstract:
Narrative medicine is situated in the broader context of the medical humanities, specifically presiding over the process of co-constructing the story of illness and care in the clinical relationship. Digital technologies can facilitate the enhancement and dissemination of narrative medicine. Several pilot projects are currently underway in the fields of neurology, oncology, cardiology. In the digital space, patients are guided to tell their stories, with the help of narrative prompts that facilitate the expression of each person’s individuality and unique life story. Recent studies have produced significant and encouraging results. Narrative telemonitoring can mitigate the potential weakening of the doctor-patient relationship and help to rethink illness as a global experience that can benefit from all dimensions of cultural and social creativity.
