Animation in cultural segments and industries: languages and production chains between animated cartoons and videogame
Alfio Bastiancich
Economia della Cultura, 2023, issue 3-4, 535-542
Abstract:
Confirming that animation is not a technique but a language with its codes and symbols, this essay recalls the evolution of the animation motion pictures realization techniques along the twentieth century in Europe and North America up to the largescale diffusion of CGI animation hardware and software. The actual utilization areas and typologies (short and feature films, Tv series, videogames, Virtual Reality) as well as its diverse production chains in the world are indicated with their protagonists and leaders in North America, Europe and Asia
