Bruno Zambardino

Economia della Cultura, 2024, issue 4, 631-649

Abstract: The article explores the evolution and current state of film and audiovisual education in Italian schools, emphasizing the importance of fostering critical media literacy among students. Through a historical and policy-based analysis, the study highlights how the National Plan "Cinema e Immagini per la Scuola" (CIPS) represents a turning point in integrating audiovisual language into curricula. Drawing comparisons with European initiatives, it underlines the cultural and educational benefits of a structured film education system, advocating for its reinforcement through public investment and teacher training as essential tools fornavigating today's media-saturated environment.
