Abstract:
Assessments in all the Nordic Countries. A variet of different culturalobjects are mostly dealt with, but the structural or systematical levels of theheritage are rarely investigated, although these are of strategical importance. It is therefore a double challenge to introduce cultural heritage in Strategic Environmental Assessments. The difficulties to find out the type of questions of relevance for Cultural Heritage on strategic levels. There are difficulties in defining a practice in working with SEA. In Sweden we have some experiences to guide us. Two years ago a proposal on SEA for the National and Regional Planning of Transports was introduced, tried and followed. Some case-studies have been carried out as a part of a project dealing with values of natur and culture and transportation. A manual has been introduced on how to use SEA for EU-programmes. And last but not least, cultural heritage is now part of the National Goals for the Environment decided by the Swedish Parliament.
