Abstract:
Culture and leisure time play an increasingly important role in the creation of the quality of life - especially urban life. In the European context, cultural activities and leisure time, and, consequently, the related policies and services, have a decisive impact on city effect itself. Therefore, functional centrality or the attracting power of a urban system are largely determined by an elevate exchange rate od supply and demand of cultural and leisure time services. Such phenomenon has a remarkable relevance, both from the viewpoint of public cultural policies generation and from the viewpoint of land use studies, as well as methodological implications that are dealt with in the paper, also referring to recent research projects carried out in the EU.
