Abstract:
The paper analyses the expenditure of the performing art sector in Italy.Based on the available data elaborated by ISTAT and the Italian Ministry for Culture, the article presents an estimated evaluation of the public funds for the period 2000-2003. The discussion shows the different amount of expenditure of National, Regional, Provincial and Municipal governments and the increasing of local funding in opposition to a decreasing of national funds. Finally, through this analysis it has been possible to show the importance of a clear scenario of public funding based on real data. Researchers and politicians should find an agreement to monitor public policies and expenditure not only on performing arts but on culture in general.
