Vecchie tipologie e "nuove cattedrali"

Abstract:
Great architectural projects conceived for contemporary culture seem to ask buildings to have more functions at the same time. More than that, the auditorium or the contemporary museum are asked to be more things at the same time. It is a request which is not related only to functional aspects but which has to do, in a more subtle way, to ideological hybridization. This idea is characterized by the presence of many functional programmes in the same physical place: libraries and stations, airports and hotels. We are facing an incredible increase of chances concerning the programmes which on one hand causes a loss in terms of typological sense of belonging and on the other hand enhances the role of the shape as the main governance instrument of the project itself.
