Scelte e prassi nuove per la musica lirica e sinfonica in Italia

Alessandro Leon

Economia della Cultura, 2010, issue 4, 493-504

Abstract: The author summarizes the principal aspects analysed and the mainresults and suggestions offered by the seven authors contributing the TEMA, dividing their arguments in three main topics: the origin of the financial crisis, the judgment of the government intervention, and the proposals for the re-generation of the Italian Opera House sector. In the context of its general financial crisis, blaming the decline in the public financing, an institutional reform has to be proposed in tackling all the relevant problems: to redefine the general objectives of the opera organizations, to focus on the expansion of the opera consuming within the Italian citizens, to reassess the musical offer on the bases of the demand basins, to deepen the managerial approach in the Opera Houses firms, to propose a new corporate governance model, splitting the current Opera House Foundation in a few different firms, separating the orchestras, the chorus and the ballet divisions, from the Theatre: a choice to be made case by case.
