Economia della Cultura, 2014, issue 2, 203-212

Abstract: The program ECoC - European Capital of Culture shows many interesting points of view and can be considered as a best practice that, being deeply experienced, focuses on the extraordinary potential of cultural policies. Moreover, it can be considered model supporting strategic planning tools, integrated and participated design and advantageous public and private relationship, with very important results on urban regeneration, economic growth and social inclusion processes. The introduction of the «Capital of the Italian culture» can help to affirm a new integrated approach to the process of protection, enhancement and management of cultural heritage, along with the latest European Union indications.
