Abstract:
The article presents the political and cultural agenda of the Municipality of Palermo in relation to the current scenario of the Mediterranean area, with particular attention to the events and themes of immigration, international mobility right, and relationship between cultures in the northern and southern sides of the Mediterranean sea. The article presents several political and cultural actions already taken by the administration in relation to these issues and its programmatic view. To this end the Charter of Palermo, which promotes the international mobility right and the abolition of the residence permit as the new frontier of the political agenda of the European Community, and Manifesta12 the European Biennial of Contemporary Art, which will take place in Palermo in 2018, become representative of the City of Palermo vision of the future.
