Italian audio-visual companies: problems and paradoxes
Carlo Degli Esposti
Economia della Cultura, 2016, issue 3, 385-388
Abstract:
The author is a producer of cinema, television drama, and web series (out of his body of work, Il Commissario Montalbano is the best known in Italy and Europe). Here he illustrates the main problems in the Italian audio-visual sector: a lack of training schools; the duopoly in broadcasting in Italy that has until now blocked the growth of independent companies with its control over production rights; the run-down state of the technical industries; the role of foreign groups - both European and further afield - in the ownership of the largest Italian audio-visual companies.
Keywords: Independent Companies' Growth; Production Rights; Training; Technical Industries; Foreign Groups' Ownership of Italian Largest Companies. (search for similar items in EconPapers)
