Statistics on tourism in Italy. A complex structure

Abstract: In this article the framework of the official statistics on tourism in Italy is discussed, describing the different data sources, the forms of tourism and variables covered by each one, their overlaps, crucial elements and discrepancies. The article also presents perspectives and projects in progress regarding this sector.
