Abstract:
The essay sums up the results of a research focused on the development and on the current performancies of the «Distretto Agroalimentare di Qualità della Sibaritide» (DAQS). The DAQS involves 32 municipalities and 4 local labour systems. Just one of these local labour systems has a specialization on agriculture. The production of fruit, milk, olive oil and wine are the driving sectors of the local economy. In recent years, due to the simultaneous convergence of global competitive pressures and reduction of public funding, the primary sector has faced a sharp contraction. However, recent trends are encouraging the emerging of strategies to oriented to increase cooperation among local actors.
