Eugenia Macchiavello

Banca Impresa Società, 2023, issue 3, 523-554

Abstract: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs), traditionally with limited access to financing, have the opportunity to take part to the recently defined sustainable economy resorting to new clean technologies. The paper, after a brief introduction about the new field of research of green fintech or sustainable digital finance, presents the main applications of green DLT-based finance as new instruments of capital raising for sustainable SMEs and discusses the main legal issues raised also by the adoption of recent EU law in the DLT-based finance area. The paper will also discuss the adequacy of such legal frameworks to regulate the green DLT-based finance experiences described, balancing the regulatory objectives and interests involved
