The reform of Italian cooperative credit banks from a comparative perspective

Abstract:
The recently approved reform of Italian cooperative credit banks (BCC), with the aim of reducing the structural weaknesses of the sector, has introduced the requirement for each BCC to join a cooperative banking group. This significant choice is analyzed in comparison with other cooperative banking groups and institutional protection schemes settled in Europe.
