Micro & Macro Marketing, 2016, issue 2, 321-336

Abstract: In the wake of the Global Financial Crisis, most European countries need to find a trigger for kick-starting a new social and economic development. History shows that even in times of crisis there could be room for new ideas and opportunities, which could make countries enter a new era of changes. In a «knowledge economy», innovation appears to be a key factor for triggering such social and economic development. However, finding a way to measure «innovation» can be challenging, as it is a pervasive and multidimensional construct. That is why the Assirm Innovation Index (AII) aims to be a new measurement for countries' dynamics of innovation. Taking into account three different dimensions (creation of ideas, enabling conditions, and economic trust), the AII attempts to be a diagnostic tool able to measure potential dynamics of innovation with a trimestral release.
