Abstract: China’s economy currently shifts its development pattern from investment/export-led to consumption/ domestic demand-led growth. It is no longer just a means to obtain foreign currency and technology but for China as an economic superpower to enhance its role in global governance. This article aims to explore the potential of Belt and Road Initiative for Bangladesh. The primary objective of this research is to mainly find an answer how BRI is perceived in Bangladesh and how BRI contributed to the improvement of Chinese soft power. The theoretical part defines the Bangladeshi perception of China in the framework of the Bangladesh-China relations. In this context, the global phenomenon BRI is defined. This description of the actions of the ground addresses to narrative what new brought BRI into the image of China. The practical part deals with analysis on how the perceptions and attitudes of Bangladesh government and its people towards Belt and Road Initiative.
