Abstract: The slow kinetics of hydrogen evolution in alkaline solutions limit the current density of alkaline electrolysers. Research now demonstrates that the addition of aromatic amines to the electrolyte enhances alkaline hydrogen evolution, a strategy that is readily applicable to existing electrolysers.
