Releasing oxygen from the bulk

Abstract: Oxygen loss is an elusive phenomenon that accompanies oxygen redox in lithium-rich layered oxides in batteries. Now, multi-length-scale characterization reveals that oxygen originating from the oxide bulk is eventually released after prolonged cycling.
