Abstract:
Family businesses are fundamental productive structures in industrialized and developing economies. Even though there are no rigorous data to support the fact, family businesses have a relevant influence in the generation of national wealth, but they are not well known. Research on family enterprise has been recent; in this article we aim to reconstruct the state of the art research that has been undertaken in Mexico since the main objective of this paper is to encourage family business research. The results presentation is inspired by Chua et al. (1999), Low and MacMillan (1988) and Sharma’s works (2004).
