Results and financial situation of firms in 2013

Abstract: The article looks at the financial situation of non-financial corporations in Belgium over the period from 1 January to 31 December 2013. After briefly describing the methodology and the population studied, it presents an extrapolation of the main operating result items for 2013, with a breakdown by sector and size. The article then goes on to assess the financial situation of companies as regards profitability, solvency and investment. This year, a separate section presents an analysis of their available funds, which have increased a lot over recent years. This analysis focuses among others on the concepts of working capital and working capital needs.
