Abstract: The weakness of Belgium’s productivity growth calls for a rethink about re-energising all its various resources. Among them, a country’s innovative capacity provides fundamental support for future growth. Through the lens of patent data, Belgium can boast many advantages, but its performance is hindered by certain weaknesses too, at a time when new technological challenges are emerging.
