Should we fear China’s brave new digital world?

Abstract: “China has big ambitions to rival the US and the EU and become the world’s technological leader. Whereas in some digital areas (like fintech) China is already a front runner, in other sectors (like semiconductors) it is still a long way from the global frontier. By comprehensive industrial policies China is hoping to realise its ambitions. Meanwhile, the US and Europe are looking for the best way to deal with an increasingly assertive digital China.”
