Economic Review, 2025, 1-22

Abstract: The share of value added that goes to labour – the wage share – has fallen in Belgium since 2013, while remaining more stable in the euro area over the same period. This article analyses the decline using macroeconomic variables such as productivity and real hourly wages but also highlights the heterogeneity at firm-level by looking at microdata.
