Employment in the banking sector in Poland – determinants and perception

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to identify the main determinants of how banks are perceived as employers by the young generation of Poles. The study, which was carried out among students of a university of economics, takes into account the factors behind systemic changes in the banking sector. The impact that legal regulations, consolidation processes, modern technologies and social aspects have on employment in the banks is analysed. The paper also presents the results of an empirical study designed to create the profile of an employer perceived as attractive by the students, which was subsequently used to confront students’ perceptions of the bank. The results have shown that banks are perceived as an attractive workplace due to the financial stability they offer, with a very small discrepancy between the profile of the desired employer.
