Abstract: Since the early 1980s, French historiography of technology has known several major inflections: giving up the internalist approach, taking the American works on the social construction of technology into consideration, using the concept of innovation in an economic history approach. This renewal has led to the study of new actors of technology, including consumers. Another sign of this dynamism is that new spaces were studied, from urban to European scales, based on concepts like network. This history of innovation is energized by the fruitful interfaces with other fields of research such as industrial heritage, business history and other disciplines.
