Abstract: It is well-known that the war of the league of Augsburg had an adverse effect on Bordeaux trade, but we usually ignore that at the same time, the city provides the French Navy through the “commissaire general de la marine”, Lombard. The study of 191 contracts concluded by him, in the name of the king, between 1688 and 1697 allows us to show the role that Bordeaux played in supplying the French Navy during this conflict, and to examine the structure of this trade, the nature of the goods, and who were the merchants.
