Abstract: The Russian occupation began smoothly in the intent to make forget the exactions of the 1757 campaign. The tsarina wanted to use until the treaty of peace the threat of an annexation to her empire of the so-called “New Russia”. Inhabitants, without forgetting links with their Hohenzollern master, appeared obedient and receptive to the Russian attempts of seduction and russification, arousing Frederic II’s grudge. The king never returned to Königsberg after he got the city back.
