Abstract:
The most recent natural disasters have had significant regional economic impacts. Especially floods where the occurrences tend to be strong in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region. These huge effects in the Region can now be estimated using technical models at a local scale. A technical model build ex-ante can provide an economic loss evaluation of the flood zone. These results can be then integrated into an economic model. In addition to validating the technical results, this macroeconomic view provides a regional outlook of the flood risk. This paper advances a monetary evaluation of the economic vulnerability of the PACA Region. By keeping in mind the historical flood of December 2003, we illustrate this methodology in two departments of the PACA Region.
