Abstract:
This note investigates the methodological conditions necessary to a fair deal between conservation and conversion of wetlands. We consider conversion cases to agriculture and industrial uses. In this latest situation, one could think that it is not possible to rely on conservation benefit calculus, based on individual preferences to stop or restrain wetland conversion. It is BEAUMAIS et al. (2008)'s conclusion, published in this review. We show that taking some theoretical deepening and methodological precautions, it is not impossible to have reverse conclusions.
