Abstract:
The regional business cycles synchronisation between 58 European regions is analysed in this paper. Business cycles are obtained three filters over the period 1981-2008 from the real GDP growth rate. Regional synchronisation is quantified with correlation coefficients between the euro area and each member state. Several results are obtained. First, in accordance with previous studies, a huge heterogeneity remains between the regions analysed. Second, we observe an accentuation of the synchronisation. This leads to a decrease of the border effects. This last results seems to be original.
