Abstract:
Crete, one of the largest islands in Greece, has a dominant position in tourism as it hosts a large percentage of visitors every year. Crete is an island with hotel facilities providing luxury and high-level services. It has a strong tourism industry, and tourism is one of Greece's biggest sources of annual revenue. In this paper, all these elements are recorded in detail while all external environmental factors are also analyzed (PESTEL). These political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal factors are used as tools for designing business plans. These factors of the external environment are categorized into opportunities and threats; the influence of those factors on the continuation of tourism development is recognized, and the likelihood of them taking place in the near future is assessed.
