Abstract:
Southwestern Bulgaria and the region of Blagoevgrad district have the potential to attract tourists with varied interests on the basis of natural beauty, unique nature, and preserved traditions. However, they should be clearly identified by particular indicators, and also to become subject to targeted marketing efforts. In this direction, this study focuses on the removal of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats faced by small and medium enterprises. Especially, because, within the considered territory, they are the backbone of the tourism and determine the direction and challenges to its development.
