THE ROLE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES IN INCREASING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES

Abstract: The necessity of application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and resources in the business activities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly defined as indispensable as a leading factor for improving their sustainability and competitiveness. The reasons for this statement are many, but one of the most important is related to the formation of the information economy and the emerging need for dynamic change in information and communication systems and the exchange of data and information through them, including the ways of creation, preservation, storage and use of information resources of the enterprise. The global best practices demonstrate that increasing the efficiency of performed business processes are closely related to the perception of the advantages of the new developing ICT in the process of implementation and development of enterprises. They have more influence in the conduct of successful e-business and significantly affect the creation and the development of e-commerce and e-payments by which enterprises are integrated into the global network space.In the present article presents the status and current trends associated with the formation of the information economy and the introduction and implementation of the new ICT in SMEs in order to outline their influence in the development of their electronic business and increase their competitiveness in the economic market .
