Abstract: This analytical and econometrical study aims to shed light on the impact of energy consumption on economic growth in Algeria, by using the Algerian data for each G.D.P. as an indicator of real economic growth, on the one hand, and the per capita energy consumption, on the other. We try to understand the evolution of G.D.P. This is to determine the extent of intervention in energy consumption to increase output from 1983 to 2022. Finally, applying econometric techniques starts with the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (A.D.F.) test for stationary, then the Johansen-Juselius cointegration and Granger causality test based on VECM. This paper's significant findings consist of a long-run relationship between G.D.P. and E.C. and a unidirectional causality relationship from E.C. to G.D.P. in both the short and long run; furthermore, in the long run, energy consumption positively influences economic growth in Algeria.
