Abstract:
Pilgrimage is an essential part of religious tourism and even gave rise to the use of the term "pilgrimage tourism" as the equivalent of "religious tourism". Discussion on the scope of the terms "pilgrimage tourism" and "religious tourism" requires clarification of the individual forms and manifestation of this specific type of tourism. There is a close connection between it and other types of tourism. Here we have in mind the so-called multifunctional trips depending on the motivation of tourists when visiting religious centers or other cultural sites. Regarded as a separate form, religious or pilgrimage tourism could be classified as a separate subgroup of cultural tourism. In general, the differences between different forms are not clearly defined and often move from one form to another. Nowadays, religious tourism is closely linked to recreational and cultural tourism, perhaps more than ever before.
