Das Recht auf Wohnen – Zum Verhältnis von Rendite- und Gemeinwohlorientierung
Thomas Eberhardt-Köster
Z'GuG Zeitschrift für Gemeinwirtschaft und Gemeinwohl, 2022, vol. 45, issue 1, 58-78
Abstract:
This paper describes the financialization and commoditization of the German housing market in recent decades as well as the corresponding implications for the provision of affordable housing to people with low and medium incomes. The paper then points out that purely market-based polices will result in structural deficits. It discusses the role of non-profit organizations in solving the housing problem, and argues that any sustainable solution involves collectivization of land and large real estate portfolios.
