Abstract: The article deals with Silke Helfrich's discussion of the concept of property and the related understandings of property relations and their implications for our actions. Those are related to sociological theories on the one hand and to ethno- and anthropological research on the other. Subsequently, (institutional) conditions of alternative economic activity are presented and brought together with Silke Helfrich's approach of patterns of commoning or pattern language. The article does not aim at an exhaustive discussion of the topics mentioned, but would rather like to show which manifold thought-provoking impulses can be drawn from Silke Helfrich's numerous publications and how they have influenced and will continue to influence our thinking.
